SHORES OF ILLUSION

by: Sargon Michael

Inside a dark cave in my innersole
A loud scream shatters the walls of silence
Emotions flood, forms a sea of thoughts

A boat sails away against winds of evil,
In defiance
To the land of dreams
To the shores of illusion

On the burning sand, I lay
Opening my weary eyes, I see
A creature of yesteryears
A spirit of days to come

"What are you, a dinosaur, mammoth, or could you be human?" I asked
"living dinosaur, remains of a mammoth and an ailing human" He said

Like sun rays passing through infinity, his words penetrated my heart, touched my soul

"What were you my man, a lion, two rivers or a whip?" I asked
"Courage of a Lion
Purity of two rivers
Stroke of a whip" He said with elation

I looked deep into the blue skies
I prayed and searched in my innersole for a cure to heal my ailing man
A glazing spark brought answers of wisdom;

"Roar from a wounded lion
A cup of water from two rivers
Hundred lashes with a whip for every moment of sleep"

"What will I be then, a torch, an eagle or a dove?" I asked

Before the spark vanished, these last words were heard:

"Light of a torch
Beak of an eagle
The Unbroken wings of a giant dove"
